i was thinking about a 1 minute,but they told me it should be longer,so im gonna do 3 mins..
Depends if your speech is boring or not. But I’m sure it isn’t.

On a plane was an unamed American President, the Pope, and a schoolboy. The pilot suddenly had a heart attack and the plane started to nosedive.
The pope said "there’s no way we can land this baby, we must jump." "But there’s only two parachutes." said the school boy, pointing to the pile of bundles lying near the plane exit.
The unamed American president wasted no time in rushing over and grabbing a bundle and which upon he said " I am the most intelligent man in the world and the greatest President who has ever served my country. Therefore, it is my duty to not die." and he jumped.
The pope looked at the schoolboy and said "I have lived a good life here on earth, and I know God will take me into heaven when I die. I insist you take the last parachute."
"No need." said the boy. "The most intelligent man on earth has taken my school bag."

Yawn. 3 minutes is too long. Stick to 2 tops.

Length is not the key, keeping your audience entertained is the key. You should say what you need to say, keep it either light or moving (as appropriate) and make sure you have a strong finish. Speak loud enough that everyone can hear you, speak clearly (you don’t want deaf Great Aunt Edna saying "What did he say?" all through your toast) and sit down before you start to bore people.
